Not Ready to Go Back

I’m not ready to go back to normal just yet.

No, it’s not because of the virus. In fact, I encourage you to put on your mask, distance socially, and go support some local businesses, they really need it.

I’m not going back because over the last two months I’ve realized how much I haven’t been “here.” Right here, at home, in this moment, available, connected, present.

I’ve spent the last 10 or more years living out a dream. Speaking around the world, big stages, awesome content, great people, and lots of traveling perks, lots.

But, while I’m sure I’ll get back on a plane, and I know that my time on stage is not over by a long shot, I’ve been given a gift these last 2 months (a SUPER expensive one 😅) that I’m not ready to give up just yet.

It’s the gift of gratitude. Of staying in one place long enough to truly realize its beauty. Its being hemmed in and tied down long enough to realize I have value to add in ways I never realized. Its being forced to be with a select few people for so long that I understand, on a profound level, that my frustrations with them are nothing compared to my love for them.

I hope, in some way, that the pain of this experience has, and may continue, to provide you similar gifts. My goals, my dreams, and my life will forever be changed by this.

I look forward to the doors opening and seeing you all in the world again real soon. We’ll likely all look just a bit different, and I’m excited to see those changes.

I’m not ready to go back. But that’s OK, because going back isn’t what we’re doing. Going forward is the only thing available.
